Tech:NYC’s Statement on the 2025 State of the City Address

January 9, 2025

Tech:NYC issued the following statement in response to today’s 2025 State of the City address by Mayor Eric Adams:

In today’s State of the City address, Mayor Adams made one thing abundantly clear: making New York the best place in the world to live and work is going to be a key focus for his administration over the coming year — and Tech:NYC stands ready to support the Mayor in this mission.

A crucial part of this process will be seizing the momentum gained by the passage of City of Yes for Housing Opportunity, a historic rezoning that will create desperately needed housing and make our city more affordable, which Tech:NYC proudly supported. We are particularly encouraged by the Mayor’s recently announced Charter Revision Commission to address the housing crisis, on which Tech:NYC’s President and CEO, Julie Samuels, has been chosen to serve.

As AI and other emerging technologies drive growth and innovation at an increasingly rapid rate, 2025 will be a pivotal year in cementing New York’s status as a premier global tech hub. We know Mayor Adams understands how high the stakes are, and we will be ready to work with his administration every day to ensure tech and the New Yorkers who build it can help our city reach new heights.
